TOTALLY PRIVATE!: Diary of a Crush- French Kiss Review

Name: Diary of a Crush: French Kiss
Author: Sarra Manning
Date Published: June 8th, 2006

Short Summary:
From the author: When Edie and Dylan first see each other in photography class, an instant attraction draws them together. But true love never does run smoothly—the two spar as much as they can’t keep their hands off each other. Then comes the college trip to Paris: Edie’s willpower will be tested to the limit! In between furious arguments and trips to the Louvre, the two share some passionate moments—but will it last?

In public or under the covers?
This book is okay to read in public. While it does touch on some mature topics, it never goes into full detail. Also there are a lot of make out scenes, but other than that, it’s perfectly acceptable to read this book in public.
What mood?
This book will make you laugh. Edie is a girl in love, and she’s hilarious about it. The mood between Edie and Dylan can sometimes frustrate you, because you just want them to grab each other and kiss already. Edie can also be a bit angsty at times, so just watch out for that.

Main Character - yay or nay?
I love, love, love, Edie Wheeler. I said in our introduction video that I would be Edie Wheeler if I could, and I meant it. She can be a bit angsty at times, and all you want to do is just slap her, but she is a 16 year old girl trying to fit into a new group of friends, so you can’t blame her.
Getting Over Dylan:
I want to see you try to get over Dylan. Just try it and get back to me. It hasn’t worked for me yet. I am in love with Dylan. He is moody, and a flake, but he is super sexy. I love the way he talks and the way he acts. He’s just perfect. It is common knowledge that I love Patch, but Dylan is a close second. He is just unf!

Character Fever:
SHONA SHONA SHONA! I absolutely love Shona. She is a total BAMF. She is Edie’s best friend, and she is not afraid to tell anyone how she feels. She is frequently caught in the middle of Edie and Dylan’s fights, and she always handles it greatly. Instead of siding with both of them, she tells them both to suck it up, and get together already. I aspire to be a badass just like Shona.

Crust factor:
Mia! She is extremely crusty. She starts a lot of drama, and she just insists on being an evil bady. I absolutely hate her. Dylan and Edie also have their crusty moments, but it’s mainly Mia.

Don’t judge a book by its cover:
I love the cover. It shows Dylan and Edie kissing (they do a lot of that in the book). And on the side, it shows the setting. The back looks like one of Edie’s diary entry, and it’s just perfection. It’s a unique cover and I love it.

Song this reminds me of:
Na Na Na by One Direction. This song describes Edie and Dylan’s relationship perfectly.

Future Companion Novels:
This is the first book in the Diary of a Crush trilogy. Read them all. Do it. You won’t regret it!
Overall Rating:
I give this book a 4. It’s amazing, but there are just too many crusty parts for it to be a 5. But you should still defintley read this book.
