Top Ten: Books That Were Totally Deceiving

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly meme created by the book blog site The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is books that deceived us, either by having a mismatched title or cover or a book that had a summary that didn't match, etc. Here is my list.

1. Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer

This book deceived me in so many ways. First of all, her covers never really made sense to me. Second of all, this book kind of went against everything that the previous books had set up.

2. Delirium by Lauren Oliver

The ending of the book made me so upset. It would be a huge spoiler to give it away, but trust me, you will be so pissed.

3. Bad Kitty by Michele Jaffe

This cover does not match the quality of the book at all. I have had to explain why I love this book so many times it's not even funny. The cover makes this look like a cheesy ya romance. It is so much more.

4. I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter

I love everything spy related, but this book was very disappointing. IT seemed to be more about girl/boy drama than learning about how to be a spy.

5. Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

I loved Hush, Hush and was so excited to read this book. However, as soon as I started the book, (spoilers coming) Nora and Patch break up. I mean, what the crap?

6. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

I loved this book but the ending was so upsetting that I had to sit alone, depressed, in my room.

7. Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

I did not expect this book to be so serious and graphic. I don't know why. Be warned. It is an excellent book, but you need to be in a certain state of mind.

8. Sweethearts by Sara Zarr

I was expecting there to be more romance in this book. It's still a good book though.

9. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

This romance is built up and its awesome... and then it crumbles.

10. Shine by Lauren Myracle

I didn't expect this book to be so freaking good.

  1. I sort of agree about Delirium, it was a weird ending...the sequel had a worse ending though, hah. And totally agree about the Breaking Dawn cover!

    1. You read the sequel? Oh my gosh, well thank you for warning me. I was a little curious about if it got better. And about the BD cover, she never explains about the chess piece. What greater meaning are we supposed to get. Thanks for the comment. - Dexter
